You were right I was wrong, Kerrie Smith

I just wanted to drop a quick note to you all because I can't help myself. We have this couple we know and love, they are Ken and Sue Sims.
Aren't they a handsome couple
When one is right and the other is wrong, they say three time " you were right I was wrong" and the full name. Rob and I like it so we use it as well now.
Well Thanksgiving morning I was with ROB and CHRIS in the bathroom going over the layout for the tub, shower and sink. They were having a hard time because of the SIZE of the bathroom and guess who said and I quote, " It is a good thing you added to the bathroom, it would have been to small". I simply said, " what does that mean" and the response was" You were right I was wrong Kerrie Smith". I have a witness

but I know he will stand behind his buddy, he told me so. I told Rob I was going to blog this, and he said he would deny it. But the most important part is.......... I WAS RIGHT!!!!!!!!
I love you honey, and your ability to admit it. And this is why we will make it through this build. Because we will both be right and wrong, and we will admit it, grow and rub it in the others face! I am just kidding, kinda.

Thanksgiving

This year I have so much to be thankful for. Our home, our family and a new addition,  another year with older ones, and friends. I have not spoke of this but it has been a tough year when it comes to friends. I truly have a better understanding of friendship, what is real and have learned a very difficult life-lesson. I am thankful for all this though. That is what life is about and it means I am living, making mistakes and growing.

I love the way the snow looks but for the first time am not embracing it. We didn't get much of a summer. But I am thankful for the fresh look and the beauty of it. It is magnificent.

This family came to visit and were put to work right away. It is the Williams family,Chris, Angel BreAnna and Troy. Chris is Rob's brother from another mother. They have been friends since they were around 10 years old.

They look so much alike huh. Family resemblance is strong. And his beautiful bride was trying to hide from the camera.

Angel and I packed all the windows upstairs and took out the screens. Job done. Then we headed to go see a movie with all the kids except Robby. He could think of a zillion other things he would rather do.

I have to say it was great. The best one yet and oh it left us hanging.
And while we were away the boys worked hard instead of played and all the windows were set. Then On Sunday I helped Rob set 2 of the 3 french doors. I had to go to the SVVC signups, club volleyball which I am club director. Yes I may have over done it here but hey, I love volleyball and am so excited about a valley wide team.  Anyway, Robby helped him finish and guess what, he did a much better job than I and Rob was sure to tell me. I can take it. I am big enough to admit I am not "handy", but I try.

It is so pretty. I know I am prejudice. This morning I had to run out and grab something. All I do when I walk through is think, wow next year this is what it will look like in the morning when I am getting ready, or I will just have to run downstairs and start the car in the garage not run outside. I get to "feel" it.  Next year, this season will be in this new home. And while I know it will come sooner than I think, and I need to enjoy now, I am still so excited for that to come.
Happy Thanksgiving all.

Weekends

So our weekends are filled with this house. It gets tiresome but it is our lot for the next 7 months. I got my wish and here is my comp roof. It is soooo pretty
With all that is getting done I am LOVING the design so I will show you all sides. You can then get a feel. The front entry being done has now broke up the front and I love the look. Rob built it which made him feel good.
This is the east side. Now for the back
And the west side
The inside looks so different. We have stairs to the first floor now. Grandpa finally got to go upstairs.

The ceiling in the living room is so high. I laid on the floor to try to get the feel of the height. This is Robs mount wall in MY living room and that is the wall for our bedroom

The kitchen, family room aka Robs room and my pantry which is huge. I will never fill it with that much food. Anyway the room really has a great room feel.

I love how big it is. Now to head upstairs...... My bedroom suite
 The bathroom........
The closet..........
Robby's bedroom and the kids bathroom all framed in

Jordan's HUGE closet aka Meghan's room and Jordan's room

That is about it. It feels so much like a house now. My friends son came up and said it is almost done. I wish. The best part is seeing all of this come together. There were honestly quite a few things I was worried I would not like about the house. But it is so different than on paper. I thought the family room and kitchen would be so cut up and it isn't and I had no idea that wall in the living room was so high. I see lots of cobwebs in my future there but it is still so cool looking.
My great picture idea, not so great when it came down to it. To far away but I did get a good family picture. Not great but good and one for the Christmas card too. This is our year and it only seems fitting to have the house a part of it.  So here is our family photo. I will let you see that. The Christmas card you will have to wait for. Getting gramps to cooperate is harder than getting Rob to, but all that matters is that he is part of it.
And on a VERY happy note. Congratulations Rices. 11/7/11. That will be one lucky Boy!

Raising the Roof

This is Carl Blalack, aka Smokin' Joe. He is the best crane guy and has been so helpful to us. He is my friend Lorinda's Dad. Beam, post and truss setting day was a biggie. Rob, Gary, and Johnny were running all over the place. There were some pretty tall posts to set. I think they were the tallest any of them had set before.
There was lots of hanging out there

Would have scared the bejeezus out of me. But they all took it in great stride. You can see the smile on Rob's face. It is not only that he is building the house we have been trying to for seven years, but the fact the man loves to build. Just not in the cards at this time and his age. Lets face it he turned 39 earlier this week and he is not getting any younger. But he is kinda cute so I think I will keep him.

The truss' rolled fairly easy. Honestly, I had to go before they got to far into them but it what I watched went smoothly. Rob is so lucky to work for such a great company they gave him the two days off to get all this done. It took all three of them so I want to give a big thanks to KASCO and to Keith Sims. We owe you so much and are so grateful to you for all you have done to help us!

Robby has had a blast climbing on the roof. It is like forty feet in the air at the peak! The kids is a nut.
Now I have to tell you we had our first guy walk off the job. He was a very nice guy but our roof and the height scared him. Thank goodness Gary new a guy and now I get my comp roof like I wanted. I think the look will be a little less industrial. We are all dried in as of today and no more sweeping the water out of the house. That is a load off. Now lets just hope the snow stays away long enough to finish her up. They were saying a chance next Sunday.... uggg.
Now I have figured out our family picture for this year. Yes, it obviously has to do with the house. I can't wait I just hope it all turns out like I plan. We will see. Have a Happy and safe Halloween all.

Second Floor

So the second floor is under way. We will have trusses on Monday but probably wont be ready for them. They will have to wait a day or two. So here is the look today. I have to share this. We had our first fight over the house. When we extended the front left of the house to get rid of the dry deck, we added more square footage to the dining room and our room. Well when the framing of our bedroom started Gary asked me if I wanted to make the bathroom any bigger. Well he showed me where it was now, what the length of the bedroom was and I came up with move the wall two feet. Our bedroom was 21ft long, what is 2 ft right. Well apparently if you are a man you don't add room to a room where all you do is, and I quote, "shit, shower, and shave". Wanna bet!

Us women spend more time in there and now instead of 3ft from toilet to counter you have 5 and I gained a nice linen closet and the bedroom is still huge.
It is actually a nice bedroom suite. With a hallway, walk in closet (the room with the chair), bath(the room on the right) and bedroom. I am in HEAVEN!

We have an amazing view out the french doors

Here is Jordan's Room. It is large as well and I am not saying anything but here closet is bigger than mine
Yes that is a door at the end. She will share the deck with us. Here is her closet. Her friend Meghan claims it as her room.
As a matter of fact meet Meghan.

And Robby's room is nice not done yet but a quick look is here

This is the view out of his bedroom window.

And here I am in what will be the kids bathroom. Robby's room will have a pocket door to it

These two have been hard at it all weekend, when they weren't hunting. I wish they would take more time for that. We need some meat but like I said trusses are coming.

We will see how the week plays out. And as usual, Rob is stressing it. He keeps saying after the roof is on it will be ok. I don't think I believe him.
